York, 5 days in Europe’s most inspiring City.

 

If cultural getaway is what you are looking for then York is your destination. Renowned for it’s exquisite architecture, tangle of quaint cobbled streets and the iconic York Minster. Delve into the city’s vibrant cafe culture, take time out to enjoy some of the country’s most talented street entertainers or simply watch the world go by while sipping a drink by the river or broaden your mind with a visit to any of the world class museums the City has to offer. York hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year, catering for all ages and interests.

 

Day 1

Depart for York with refreshment stops on route.

 

Day 2 

A day of leisure to explore all of what York has to offer: museums, York Minster, boat trip on the Ouse or just sample the wonderful shops on offer.

 

Day 3

Full day out on the moors where we have a coffee stop at the Village of Goathland which is the setting of the fictional village of Aidensfield in Heartbeat television series set in 1960’s. Fans of Heartbeat will not be disappointed by a visit to fictional Aidensfield. 

Next stop is seaside resort of Whitby made famous by it’s connections with Captain Cook and the ruins of Whitby Abbey and it’s 199 steps. These steps have associations with Bram Stoker as he based much of his Dracula novel here whilst staying in Whitby in 1890.

 

Day 4

A day of leisure to have a last look at York, optimal bus tour of the city.

 

Day 5

Return to South Wales with refreshment stops on route.
