CHATSWORTH HOUSE

Sample itinerary for Derbyshire and Chatsworth House

 

Day 1

Depart South Wales, journey north with a lunch stop in the Tamworh area. Arrive late afternoon at the historic market town of Chesterfield for a three night stay.

 

Day 2

Journey through the beautiful Derbyshire countryside to Chatsworh House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Chatsworth House is one of Britain’s best loved historic houses and estates, offering something for everyone from famous works of art and the spectacular fountains in the garden to the finest shopping, food and drink and many miles of free walks. Chatsworth House featured in the BBC’s adaptation of Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. Entrance into the house and gardens is included in the tour price.

 

Day 3

Morning at leisure in Chesterfield. Visit St Mary’s Church, the largest church in Derbyshire and famous for its crooked spire which is 228 ft from the ground and leans 9ft 5ins from its true centre. Visitors can climb the 144 step up to the top of the spire. 

Saturdays are market days in Chesterfield and worth a visit. Afternoon visit to the small market town of Bakewell  which is situated in the Derbyshire White Peaks. Visit the famous Bakewell Pudding Shop 

 

Day 4

Depart hotel after a leisurely breafast.  Start journey south and stop at Worcester before arriving back in South Wales early Evening.
